Event Support.

Kia ora! Queenstown parkrun is a free, weekly, volunteer organised 5km walk/run that happens every Saturday in Queenstown Gardens at 8am in daylight savings and 9am in Winter time! We always need volunteers for approximately two hours to help us make the weekly event possible. These roles could be as simple as a being a course marshal to make sure participants stay on the right path, taking photos for our facebook page, or helping the with the timing and results. If you are working on your Duke of Edinburgh, we are happy to help you track and confirm your volunteer time as well. It's always a fun morning and you get the opportunity to meet locals and parkrunners from all over the country and world that are visiting Queenstown. After volunteering 25 times you are eligible for a free parkrun shirt to commemorate you contributions to our fave, free, weekly 5km!

Delivery Drivers

We are always looking for drivers to help us with deliveries arriving at approx noon on one or each of those days to pick up our food packages (this role is not likely to be a possibility for students on restricted licenses). Deliveries are broken into different suburbs and each driver typically takes between 2-6 deliveries. We text potential drivers every Sunday night and Wednesday night enquiring if each person is available or not, until we get enough confirmations. We are currently needing between 6-10 drivers each Monday and Thursday.

Planting & Maintainence Volunteers

The Wakatipu Reforestation Trust's mission is to grow native plants at its Jean Malpas Community Nursery and to use these plants to plant in public areas to enhance biodiversity in the Wakatipu Basin.

At the nursery - volunteers help to grow our native plants by potting up seedlings, weeding pots and maintaining a tidy nursery. The nursery is located at Jardine Park, Poplar Drive, Kelvin Heights. Don’t worry if you have never done anything like this before – we’ll show you how to do it and besides, there’ll be plenty of people on hand to help you if you have any questions.

On planting days - volunteers plant native plants at public places all around the Wakatipu/Queenstown basin. They arrange volunteer planting days and maintenance days. Volunteer planting days are usually held on weekend mornings during Autumn and Spring.
