Volunteer Opportunities

Queenstown
Throughout the winter months, our community nursery welcomes volunteers to join us on Wednesday afternoons to help maintain our native plants. These sessions are informal, and don't require you to have a green thumb!! For more details, please check out our website https://wrtqt.org.nz/community-nursery/. We will be publishing our spring planting days within the next few weeks, and would absolutely love to see more WHS students come and join us in both restoring our local biodiversity and mitigating climate change through planting native trees.

The SPCA Op Shop in Queenstown is looking for Volunteers to assist in it's new venture in Gorge Rd. We are looking for Volunteers to help out with the the processing and sorting of donations, maintaining stock on the shop floor, merchandising stock, manning the sales counter, and cleaning and tidying the shop and storeroom. We are open Mon-Sat 9.00am to 5.00pm. We are looking for people that can commit to regular shifts - you choose your time and days - who have a passion for everything furry, scaly or feathery and a love of recycling, reusing or repurposing. Help keep Queenstown clean. Every piece of plastic and rubbish you pick up, is one less piece that can end up wrapped around or ingested by wildlife. Take some time out of your morning on the last Sunday of every month and join us! And if you are as passionate as we are about our cause, and want to spread awareness or start volunteering, come along and have a chat to the Crew. Please bring reusable gloves. Bags provided. Dogs welcome. See you there!

Kia ora! Queenstown parkrun is a free, weekly, volunteer organised 5km walk/run that happens every Saturday in Queenstown Gardens at 8am in daylight savings and 9am in Winter time! We always need volunteers for approximately two hours to help us make the weekly event possible. These roles could be as simple as a being a course marshal to make sure participants stay on the right path, taking photos for our facebook page, or helping the with the timing and results. If you are working on your Duke of Edinburgh, we are happy to help you track and confirm your volunteer time as well. It's always a fun morning and you get the opportunity to meet locals and parkrunners from all over the country and world that are visiting Queenstown. After volunteering 25 times you are eligible for a free parkrun shirt to commemorate you contributions to our fave, free, weekly 5km!
Please note - parkrun Queenstown only takes place in Level 1.
